April 10, 2008Behind the Eight BallHe laid there, trying not to move. Hoping she didn't notice that he had been gone. He blinked sweat out of his eyes. The window was cracked open letting in a gentle breeze, swirling through the bedroom. She nestled her head into his bare chest. Could she hear how fast his heart was beating? It wasn't much faster than how it usually was whenever she touched his skin. He at least managed to cover his frantic fear and worries.

August 1, 2007The Jester's Court (chapter 3)“My father and his best friend, Blaine, started the troupe back in 1898. Yes, you heard me. This will go so much faster if you just believe me. I was born into the circus life, my father the ringmaster before me and my mother an aerialist. Somehow a curse was placed on the troupe the last time we came to this city. Both my parents died and the troupe proclaimed me the new ringmaster. I have been the ringmaster, and 19 years old for around 85 years, but who’s counting. All we know about the curse is that we can never leave the confines of the gate unless it’s a life or death situation, but we really don’t want to try to find out how true that is. That’s why no one chased after your sister. We only have a vague idea of how to break the curse, but we’re so used to this life that most of us don’t want it to change. Not to mention that we have no idea of what will happen once we break the curse.” Melinda could sense that there was something that he was leaving out, but didn’t want to question him about it. “I must be boring you and this really is a lot to comprehend in a short time, so I’ll stop here. Please, spent the night, I’ll show you around in the morning. Then you can decide on how long you would like to visit.” “Really, I’d love to stay, but I cant, I have to find Lexi and go home, and--” “Its okay, you can stay as long as you like. For visitors, time in their world seems to stop when they’re in ours. Another side effect of the curse.” “Well, I guess I could—“ “Great, follow me.” He got up and brought her over to a tent next to one slightly larger. “This is my tent here,” he said pointing to the larger one, “so you’ll know where I am if you need anything.” He opened the tent flaps for her and bid her goodnight. The tent was decorated beautifully with satin scarves flowing from one side or the top of the tent to the other. There were upside-down umbrellas poking through the satin scarf ceiling. Melinda found the concept of falling asleep in a strange place where she didn’t trust, let alone know anyone a difficult idea to grasp. Eventually the bustling crowd’s laughter and cheering melted in with the soothing continuous French circus music that greeted both her and her sister in their times of need. The Ringmaster’s voice cut through the noise like a dagger, but was so pure and gentle that it made her fell safe somehow and it lulled her to sleep. ~~**~~ “Come on, wake up! We’ve got to get moving.” The Ringmaster gently shook her shoulder. When Melinda opened her eyes, she found him kneeling beside the bed with his face only inches away from hers. “Go where?” “Well, I did say that I would show you around, but I have a bit of a detour planned. I’m going to show you the place where we go during the days. Come on, get dressed. Oh, right you don’t have any clothes…” his voice trailed off as he searched around the room. He spotted a cupboard and opened it. When he saw it was empty, he shut the doors and tapped his hand on the top. “Well, I hope you enjoy these. I’ll be outside.” Melinda had no idea what he was talking about, but went over to the cupboard and opened the doors. To her astonishment, there was an outfit inside. She slipped on the black skirt, which had an angled hem, and it floated around her legs as if it was made of silk and wind. The gypsy blouse had thick red and black slanted stripes matching the slant of the skirt. She walked out side and saw The Ringmaster talking with a few performers. He felt her behind him, but when he turned to look, he had to do a double take. “Wow, you look great.” “How did you do that?” Melinda tried not to smile at his compliment. “Don’t you believe in magic?” He said with a slight grin. “I guess so, but I never really thought about it, at least not since I was younger.” “Well, we’ll just have to fix that now wont we.” His smile filled his whole face and he flashed perfect white teeth at Melinda. It wasn’t a cheesy smile either; she felt his warmth and kindness shining at her. “Let’s go catch up to the others.” He gently took her hand and led her over to a tent not much larger than the one she spent the night in. There was a long winding line of performers heading into the tent. “I know what you’re thinking, how is it possible. You’ll see once we get inside.” “Don’t you mean if?” Melinda saw Lexi and the performer she was with the night before go into the tent hand in hand. The Ringmaster and Melinda finally got into the tent. There was a shimmering door way in the center that everyone was walking through, but they didn’t come out the other side. “Shall we?” The Ringmaster asked, extending his arm for Melinda to link her’s through. “I don’t know, let’s try.” she said uneasily. July 19, 2007Jester's Court (believing bohemia chapter 2)“So, who might you be?” the Ringmaster asked. “No one of consequence,” Melinda said, looking around, planning how she would get away. “I-I just got lost. I’ll be on my way now.” She tried to back up, but the performers surged behind her, blocking any form of escape. “Lost? I don’t think so. You believe whether you want to or not.” “So? That doesn’t mean anything.” “You must not know him very well.” A dancer with short brown hair said. “He can bring out the truth in any situation or person, just by looking at you.” “Darla’s right.” The Ringmaster said. “Really, so prove it.” The Ringmaster walked around in front of Melinda. “You are here for the same reason as many others. You have lost a part of yourself and you wish to get it back.” “Is that it? That’s not so impressive.” He walked closer to her and whispered in her ear. “The real reason is that it’s not just your heart and ability to love that you’ve lost, the worst part is that you’ve lost yourself completely. You’re not the same as you used to be and it kills you that you have let yourself become so numb and hopeless.” Melinda just stood there in stunned silence as he continued. “You’ve had horrible tragedies that forced you to close your heart and to forget about fantasy. Is that why you were crying?” She pulled away from him and gave him a cold glare that told him that she didn’t want to talk about it. Especially with a stranger. The Ringmaster turned away for a moment to direct the troupe where to go, when he turned back around, Melinda was gone. She had walked over to a bench by one of the tents and sat down. The tents were worn down in places form years of use and transporting but they didn’t look as drab and depressing as they usually do when Melinda saw the rundown circus. The colors were so vibrant and not at all faded by the sun and the elements, none of the flags had rips in them form the wind and there wasn’t any scorch marks from fires. She wondered if she had made a wrong turn in the forest, but there was no mistaking the fact that she was at the old circus. A loud shout form one of the performers broke through her thoughts. “You! Hey You! I saw you creeping around her last night! Who are you?” “I’m Lexi.” She said. She was trying to sneak in, but was spotted. “Lexi?” Melinda looked around her shoulder then saw her sister walking awestruck through the circus looking around and settling her sights on the Ringmaster. Lexi turned her gaze and caught Melinda’s glance. “Mindi?!” You made it!! You believe!!” She ran over to her sister. “What are you doing here?” “I could ask you the same thing.” Lexi said. “Nothing, I was just leaving.” She stood up and paused. “Did you follow me?” “No, I was curious from yesterday, so I decided to sneak out.” “Great, so Mom and Dad are going to wake up with both of us gone and freak out! Come one, we’re leaving.” A man in mime-esque make-up glanced over Melinda’s shoulder to Lexi. “Um, hold that thought. Could you excuse me?” She said, her eyes never leaving the mysterious man and walked over to him. Melinda turned to watch her walk away when she heard a voice behind her. “She’s very free-spirited. I have a feeling you were like that once. Mindi huh? Is that short for something?” the Ringmaster said, placing this gloved hand on her shoulder. She resisted the temptation to shrug it off. “Melinda, my name is Melinda.” “That’s a beautiful name. Welcome to the Jester’s Court. I’ll be your personal guide through this journey.” “Wait, so I have to stay here?!” Melinda said in alarm. “Not permanently, you do want to learn how to be your old self again, yes? Well you’ve come to the right place. You can come and go as you please, but I’m sure that you will want to come back. Anyway, I don’t usually serve as a guide, but in this case I’ll make an exception. There’s something about you, I cant put my finger on it just yet. When guests arrive a performer takes them under their wing. I see your sister has found hers. Maybe I feel like I can connect with you. Help you with your truth. We live in a constant state of bohemia, and live by its law. Truth, beauty, freedom, and love. See, everyone comes here for a reason. Look at those two girls over there.” He pointed at two girls that looked to be the same age as Melinda and Lexi. They looked like the photographs shown on the news, the girls Lexi was talking about. “Those girls, the Bitler sisters, ran away form home. They came from rebellion. Your sister? Curiosity and adventure. You’re looking for the side of you that you’ve lost over the years, and love. Not just any love, someone who will care for you, protect you, maybe even rescue you. But you don’t want to admit that, it seems like you don’t want to admit a lot.” Melinda felt so empty inside. He was right and it hurt that someone finally saw through her confidence and saw her pain. She watched as Lexi and her guide walked into a tent. “And you?” was all she could muster out as she turned to face him. It was the first time she really looked at him. Melinda was amazed that he looked so young. He couldn’t have been older that 18 or 19. Some of his chocolate brown hair poked out from under his top hat, framing his light face. His eyeliner brought out the rich color of his chestnut eyes. “I’ll start at the beginning. I’ll warn you now that some of what I say you might have a hard time believing, but it’s the honest truth. Maybe this will be your first step to being able to love, if you learn to believe and trust by listening to me, I will be able to tell how much farther we need to go. This is going to be a long story, so get comfortable.” The two sat down on the bench. Related Groups:

July 18, 2007The Jester's Court (chapter 1 of part 1 Believing Bohemia)Part one, Believing Bohemia. In the morning, the girls went over to the rundown circus. To Lexi’s amazement, it wasn’t there. Only the tents that were always there, surrounded by a chain link fence with a large padlock on the gate. “I don’t understand, it was here, I swear! A few performers saw me!” “Maybe that’s it, they saw you and packed you and left.” Melinda said, not interested. “Maybe, maybe they only come out at night.” Lexi thought out loud. “You’re not getting me to sneak out of the house tonight to come over here.” “Mindi, what happened to you? You used to be so carefree; I wanted to be just like you when we were kids. You could make up the best stories.” “I grew up. Maybe you should too.” She said coldly. Lexi looked at the wind torn tents, falling apart and ruined by the elements. She wrapped her fingers around the links in the fence and rested her head against the sign that said ‘Do Not Enter. No Trespassing, Violators Will Be Prosecuted.’ “It was here, I saw it.” Not ready to admit defeat, Lexi looked at her sister. “It’s you. You don’t believe so you don’t see it! That’s the only explanation.” “Okay, fine pin this on me! Now ask yourself this, why don’t you see it?” Melinda felt hurt. “Because you’re here.” “Great! Thanks! I’ll just leave you here, and maybe they’ll come back for you.” Angry and not wanting to get in a fight with her sister over something so trivial, Melinda stormed off back to the campsite. When Lexi returned, Ryan and Melinda were eating what Ryan had cooked while they were away. The air smelled of bacon and sausages. “I just told Mindi I thought you to were in the tent.” Ryan laughed. “I asked her where you two went and she said to ask you.” “Did they comeback after I left?” Melinda asked between bites, not even looking up. “No. They didn’t.” “Soo, where did you go?” Ryan asked trying to get some answers. “I found the carnival from the story last night, but when we went this morning it looked like it does when ever anyone goes there.” “Aww, too bad. Sorry Lexi. Here, grab some food, you must be hungry.” The siblings spent the rest of the day in the woods and even went over to the swimming hole, although the water was almost freezing. The weather was nice for the season, not to cold, perfect for camping. Slowly Lexi and Melinda forgot about what happened at the circus tents, or at least they made it look that way. The sisters were best of friends and could never harbor hard feelings about each other. That night, back at home, the girls said goodbye to their brother. The school the works at comes back from winter break a week earlier than Lindon High, so Ryan was only there for Christmas week. Melinda climbed the stairs to her room and sat out on her balcony. She had so much to think about still. She would be going to college next year and had to make sure that she didn’t fall behind in any classed this year. She had so much pressure that she put on herself. Melinda always felt like even if she did her best, it was never good enough. She missed the days where she never had to study and would ace the tests. To take her mind off of things she looked out into the forest through her telescope. She thought she saw lights coming out from where the old circus tents were, but when she looked up from her telescope, they was gone. Melinda looked through the telescope again but nothing was there. With a sigh, Melinda climbed onto her bed and started to think about all her stresses again. Slowly it turned from school to boys. Liking them was never a problem; it was getting a boy to like her back that was difficult. No matter what, she could never get a boy to treat her the right way. For the longest time, no one would even ask her out. The only boys that would were her friends, so not only did she not feel anything, but it would be awkward too. Melinda thought about all her heartache over the years. She finally finds a boy worth caring for, who treated her really well, and he cheats on her. Then moves away. She was still torn up inside because of that and feared that it would never change. Melinda built a wall around her heart and swore off love forever. Love is over-rated anyway, she thought, but while thinking this, Melinda realized she was crying. She needed to get out of the house and clear her mind. She jumped of her bed and ran to her balcony, wiping tears out of her eyes so she could see. She hopped the railing over to the trellis and scaled down the ivy. Before she knew what happened, Melinda found herself outside the forest entrance. She ran the whole way there; it was about a mile and a half. She not the fastest runner either, but that’s besides the point, she was motivated subconsciously. Without knowing where she was going, Melinda ended up by the railroad tracks. She couldn’t see anything, but did hear faint French music. Slowly, the Ringmaster’s voice grew louder. Melinda blinked back tears and right as her lids shut together, she saw visions of the cirque Lexi said was there. Melinda’s feet moved her closer to the gate and she slowly walked in with her eyes glued shut by her salty tears. She just kept chanting how she believed and how much she needed it top be real. The music stopped and Melinda opened her eyes. She was in the center of the circle of performers and everyone was staring at her. The Ringmaster jumped down from his platform and walked to the new comer whilst she was wiping tears from her cheeks. Related Groups:

July 13, 2007The Jester's Court, prolouge.“I believe this may call for a proper introduction. Don’t you see? I’m the narrator and this is just the prologue…” ~ Panic! at the Disco, The Only Difference Between Martyrdom and Suicide is Press Coverage, A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out. Prologue “It was a dark and stormy night when-“ “It’s always a dark and stormy night!” “Would you rather it be a bright and sunny day?” “No, never mind. Keep going.” “Alright. The two girls heard the story of the mysterious abandoned carnival and decided to go and see it for themselves. Their parents wouldn’t let them go, so they snuck out.” “Is this story going to get better any time soon Ryan?” “God, you’re so nitpicky! If you’d stop interrupting, it’ll get better Melinda. Where was I? Oh yeah, they snuck out. OK, so they grabbed their bikes and left.” Ryan held a dramatic pause. “And they were never heard from again! Some say they were fed to the lions, others say that they were sawed in half during a magic show gone wrong, but most people believe the ringmaster in his black top hat and shiny red jacket killed them. Or made them into slaves. I think they turned into mimes, voiceless, thoughtless, and cold. Make-upped faces and all.” Ryan sat back, pleased with his story. “Wow. That has to be the worst story I have ever heard! How are you an English major? You can’t tell stories to save you’re life! I mean, maybe when we were younger, that would have made some kind of a dent on us, but now? Ryan, you’ve got to be kidding me.” Melinda laughed at her brother’s pathetic story. “I just don’t feel I need to waste my talents on someone who criticizes my every word. That’s what I have professors for.” “Ok, fine.” She decided to humor him. “What’s the name of this infamous circus, this way if we happen to stumble across it-“ Ryan cut her off. “It was a Carnival, not a circus. Actually, it was more of a Cirque.” “That’s French for circus, Ryan.” “I thought you took Spanish?” “Yeah, for four years. I watch Cirque du Soleil, you’ve seen it.” “Oh yeah. Anyway, the name. It was called, are you ready for this? The Jester’s Court!” “Ooo, scary!” Melinda rolled her eyes and went over to the log stack and threw another log into the fire then sat down next to it. She stared into the fire’s intense glow and listened to it crackle. Lexi, who was quieter than Melinda most days, looked up at her siblings with bright eyes. “I wanna go.” “Go where Lexi? Home? We’re in the middle of nowhere; I’ve been waiting for Ryan to come home so we could all go camping.” Lexi rolled over and sat up. “No, I meant I want to go to The Jester’s Court.” Melinda shook her head and gave a look to Ryan as if to tell him to take care of it. “Aly,” Ryan started, “it was just a story. I made it up.” Ryan is the only one who calls Alexis “Aly”, everyone else calls her “Lexi.” “Not really, there’s and old run down carnival by the old railroad tracks. I remember seeing it the last time we came through here. I also remember the story about the girls because the anniversary of their disappearance was all over the news. The police found the bikes against the fence after they ran away. They went inside and looked around and found nothing. They tried burning it down but the fire wouldn’t take. The cops said that it felt like ghosts were pushing them out.” Lexi is a shy sixteen-year-old with a wild imagination. Whenever Ryan tells a story, there’s usually some truth to it. She was holding out for the hope that this was a real place. “No wonder the story was so bad; you just stole parts from the thing on the news the other day!” Melinda looked over at her sister, “Yeah, I remember it too.” Melinda on the other hand was headstrong and would argue her point to death and never let anyone do anything for her. Her imagination works overtime too, a common trait in their family, but the last few years have been really hard on her. Her boyfriend of three years moved away, but before he did that, he cheated on her, and then her uncle died a week later. So many bad things happened in her love life that she doesn’t believe in love anymore. At seventeen, Melinda is a senior at Lindon High. Their brother, Ryan, is an intern at a high school out of state. Ever since he left for college, he would come back once a year to take his sisters camping. They enjoy taunting him because he’s so old, old meaning twenty-five. “I think we’ve had enough S’mores, get some sleep Aly, ‘Night Mindi.” Ryan said as he slumped onto the bed of his pick-up truck. “’Night,” Melinda said, “Put the fire out when you turn in. Don’t spend so much time thinking about it.” Melinda crawled in to her tent. Lexi sat up staring into the fire, hugging her legs. The embers flew up into the starlit sky. Lexi knew the forest like the back of her hand as if she was raised there. She used to run away to the forest when things hot bad. When she read My Side of the Mountain, she told her mom she was going to go live in the woods like the main character. Lexi was home before nightfall. She decided to take a walk over to the rundown circus by the old railroad. By the time she got halfway there, she could hear French circus music and pounding drums. Lights broke through the trees. Groups of mimes and street performers danced around through the circus. It wasn’t rundown at all. Lexi saw a man in the background, almost conducting the troupe. His mournful hypnotizing voice rose over the crowd and sent shivers down Lexi’s spine. He was dressed in a top hat and bright red tails that’s stood out even amongst the brightly colored cast of players. In his white gloved hand, he held a long black cane that he used to direct the groups of dancers and acrobats. Lexi crawled closer for a better look, but the lights hit her face and a few performers saw her. They began to shout and run towards the fence. Lexi got startled and ran the whole way back to camp. She went into Melinda’s tent and woke her up. “Mindi! Mindi! I found it! Get up! Get up!!” “What do you want,” Melinda rolled over, trying hard not to wake up. She caught a whiff of smoke and quickly shot up. “YOU DIDN’T PUT OUT THE FIRE?!” she whisper-shouted at her sister. “Oh, yeah, I was getting to that. Melinda I found it!” “Found what?” Melinda wasn’t really pawing attention to her sister. She tried to get up so she could put out the fire, but Lexi pushed her back down. “The carnivale, the Jester’s Court, I found it! It was the old circus over by the tracks!” “Ok, very funny. Please don’t tell me that that’s why you woke me up.” “Well…, it kinda is.” “Good night.” Melinda rolled back over. “What?! Don’t you wanna go back there?” “Not really, and I have a good reason too. Its not real.” “Yes it is! Oh come on, don’t you believe me?” “If I was more awake, maybe.” Melinda sighed. “If I saw we’ll go in the morning will you let me go back to sleep?” “Yes! Defiantly!” “Put out the fire.”

introduction to my story
well, back when i first saw the "sins" video (march 2006) i had a great idea for a story about a circus that was stuck in time and a girl that finds it and the story of how it helps her learn to love again and how she in turn helps out the circus (staring of course the lucent dossier vaudville cirque and various members of panic either obvious (the ringmaster brendon is based on bden, duh) or a mix of them (ryan based on is ryan and bden, caleb based on is jon, bden and ryan ect)) well, it took a year or so to write and im in the stages of typing and editing as well as writing the sequil, so...would any1 like to read it?

June 8, 2007paris bluesthat is a movie, right? well anyway, I guess that's the best way to describe miss Hilton. when I first heard that she was maybe going to go back to jail...I instantly thought that we need Ashton Kutcher to show up on her door step, the dialog would be as follows. AK: "Hey Paris! you just got punk 'd!" PH:" No way!, So, like, that jail sentence was really just a long punk for your show, I mean you keep saying its the last season, but you keep coming back, you know you're going to be like the boy that cried fox" AK: "That's 'wolf'' Paris" PH " I have like so many fur coats, that's hot. So, like, are you here to let me get out of my ankle bracelet?" AK " Actually, no...see, that's the funny part. You're going back to jail, " PH "WAHHHH!!!" *pauses for the cameras* "MOMMY!!" ok, so maybe that wasn't as funny as it was when I first thought of it, especially that we know she's going back to jail. and now I cant make my (bad) joke about her ankle bracelet (oh well, I will anyway...its now in past tense). I wonder if it would have been diamond studded or have those 'stick-um-on" Swarovski crystals she has on everything she can get her claws on. I mean, it is what every fashionable jailbird heiress will be wearing this season... oh Paris what would have a good vacation... too bad you cant get the Martha Stuart suite
